My name is Jeff Schubert. I authored a “White Paper” for AustCham in Shanghai on the future development of the Chinese financial sector, which was publicly launched by the then Australian Treasurer, Scott Morrison, in Shanghai on 26 February 2016. See:
Prior to this I was research consultant to the “Shanghai Institute of International Financial Center (SIIFC), Shanghai University of Finance and Economics” — and I gave presentations reporting on the results of my research on behalf of SIIFC at their May 2014 and May 2015 annual Forums. Both Forums were very Chinese affairs (I was the only foreigner at the 2014 Forum and one of only two at the 2015 Forum) which began with set speeches in the morning, followed by afternoon formats which allowed for (more interesting) discussion.
I left China in mid-2016 and returned to Russia where I had previously worked in a variety of business and teaching positions. I became Head/Director of “International Centre for Eurasian Research”, School of Public Policy, RANEPA (Russian Academy of National Economy and Public Administration), Moscow. I then also became a Visiting Professor at the School of Asian Studies, situated within the Higher School of Economics (HSE) National Research University in Moscow. For two years I taught an entire Masters degree module on “Russia’s Asia Foreign Policy”. This included Russia’s relations with China, Japan, the two Korea’s, Mongolia, South East Asia, India, Pakistan etc.
Most recently I was Professor of International Business at the Baikal School of BRICS, Irkutsk National Research Technical University. I mainly taught high-tech management to Chinese students.
Earlier in my career I wrote a 100,000 word history based organisational psychology book entitled “Dictatorial CEOs and their Lieutenants: Inside the Executive Suites of Napoleon, Stalin, Ataturk, Mussolini, Hitler and Mao”. An ex-Governor (CEO) of Reserve Bank of Australia wrote that this book is: “Unorthodox in style, but rich in substance”.

Prior to the above, I was Chief Economist of HSBC (Australia) and a former economist at the Reserve Bank of Australia, the Australian Treasury, and the Department of Prime Minister & Cabinet. I was heavily involved in tax reform as Economics and Taxation Policy Adviser with a major Australian business association.
I have degrees on economics and history.
