I am now an independent business consultant and writer.

Before joining RANEPA, I lived in China for two years, and wrote a “White Paper” for AustCham (Australian Chamber of Commerce in Shanghai) on reform of the Chinese financial sector. This report was publicly launched in Shanghai on 26 February 2016 by the Australian Treasurer, Scott Morrison.

Prior to that, I was research consultant to “Shanghai Institute of International Financial Centre (SIIFC), Shanghai University of Finance and Economics”.

Before moving to China, I lived in Moscow for a number of years.

Language skills are: Russian (“advanced” business reading, but speak with bad grammar); Chinese (speak and read Mandarin at “lower intermediate” level)

I wrote a 100,000 word history based organizational psychology book entitled “Dictatorial CEOs and their Lieutenants: Inside the Executive Suites of Napoleon, Stalin, Ataturk, Mussolini, Hitler and Mao”. An ex-Governor (CEO) of Reserve Bank of Australia wrote that this book is: “Unorthodox in style, but rich in substance”.

Prior to the above, I was Chief Economist of HSBC (Australia) and a former economist at the Reserve Bank of Australia, the Treasury, and the Department of Prime Minister & Cabinet. I was heavily involved in tax reform as Economics and Taxation Policy Adviser with a major Australian business association..
